TikTok has grown to 80 million US users in its six years of existence. According to Statista, 25% of these users are in the age bracket of 10-19 years old.
The average TikTok user spends over 25 hours each month. That number surpasses time spent on other social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Aside from TikTok’s capabilities to hold a user’s attention, critics also believe that the social media platform may be doing long-term harm to children’s mental health. These claims caught the attention of the public.
Biden shared his thoughts about social media platforms like TikTok… on how it’s affecting children’s mental health.
During his State of the Union Address speech, Biden mentioned that the administration wants to do everything to protect America’s children. He said, “We must hold social media platforms accountable for the national experiment on our children for profit. It’s time to strengthen privacy protections, ban targeted advertising to children, demand tech companies stop collecting personal data on our children.”
Unfortunately, everything Biden said there was all pure hypocrisy. Let’s not forget that last month, the demo-rat used teenage TikTok stars to tell America that Putin was to blame for the soaring inflation… even if it was mostly Biden’s fault.
From its looks, Biden was only pretending that he cared for children’s mental health.
8 Attorney Generals Investigating TikTok
Now, TikTok is under formal investigation. Attorney General Rob Bonta and seven other attorney generals announced an inquiry into TikTok’s impact on young users’ mental health last March.
The ongoing investigation also aims to crack down on the negative effects of social media on children… particularly after two years of the Covid-19 pandemic forced kids to interact online.
Atty. General Todd Rokita – one of the attorney generals investigating TikTok – shared his thoughts on Fox News.
Rokita acknowledged that TikTok is growing big right now. He said, “We got to remember that TikTok now is the world’s largest app. It eclipses Google, even though it’s banned in countries like India… and it’s restricted in its home country of China.”
Then, he said that there’s a chance that the social media platform is stealing a lot of our data. Rokita added, “It’s still getting more hits than anything else. So it’s taking a lot of our data. We don’t know what it’s doing with it… and then to our kids.”
The attorney general then discussed the harmful impacts TikTok has on the youth. He said, “If you’re a Chinese company, then the CCP is a part of it. [They’re] intentionally grooming our children because 1/3 of Tik Tok users are between 10-19 years old. They’re grooming our kids to get hooked on porn, drugs, alcohol.”
It seems that TikTok is just another attempt by the Communist Chinese to dumb down America… while simultaneously stealing the personal information of millions of people.
President Trump was right about TikTok since he tried to shut down the social media platform three years ago.
